Missions are firmly rooted in the DNA of The Church at Lockeland Springs. As a church plant, we know first-hand the power that comes from believers stepping out in faith to grow the kingdom of God. This is why we’re actively engaged in our community and our world by serving others and sharing Christ with them. You can help us change the world around us.

International Missions

Each year, many of our members travel here and around the globe on mission journeys, short-term trips to a specific location for the purpose of serving a people group in a particular way. We equip our members to make a real-time contribution during their journey to our ministry partners on the ground to further their ministry. From medical clinics in Brazil to pastor training in Nepal, to sports ministry in London – as we go and serve, our primary goal is to share the good news of Christ with those we meet and serve.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I be a part of a Mission Journey?

You can find journeys under Global Missions on our church website. When you are ready, all you do is click on “Apply Today.”

How do I get more information on a particular Mission Journey before I apply?

A great way to find more information is to go to the website and read the journey description.  If more information is needed, reach out to the journey’s contact person for a more thorough conversation or reach out to your campus Missions Minister.  We will be glad to tell you more about the work and the make-up of the team.

What is included in the cost of the Mission Journey?

Your cost will cover all transportation, meals, lodging and even travel insurance.  The project expenses for the team’s work will be covered by Brentwood Baptist.

Can I go on a Mission Journey that is being led by another campus?

Yes!  All journeys are available to people at all campuses.

Can I go early or stay late outside the dates of the journey?

Yes.  We have a process for that, although it could involve some additional cost.

Can I use points and book my own flight?

Yes.  You would, however, need to coordinate your flights with the team leader and plan to join the team for the entire journey.

Do I need special vaccinations to travel?

No, not typically. If a location requires a special vaccination, it will be listed on the trip details.  For the places that we go, only a current tetanus vaccination is required.

How do I prepare culturally and spiritually for a Mission Journey?

First, begin praying over every aspect of the journey that you can think of, including the work God is already doing in the journey location. Invite your friends, Life Group and family to join you in prayer for the journey. The team leader will schedule meetings prior to the team departure to give you needed information and materials to prepare you.

Am I equipped to go on a Mission Journey?

We will communicate if any specialized training is required. God’s Spirit will equip you, II Corinthians 9:8 “And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”
Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you?  Be strong and courageous.  Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

How do we decide where to send teams?

Our missions staff works diligently and prayerfully to plan journeys that give as many people as possible the opportunity to join Kingdom work God is already doing around the world. We send teams to work alongside our global workers (missionaries) and Great Commission partners in countries with which we have an established working relationship.

How can I pray for Mission Journeys?

You can always pray for the gospel to be made clear, for God to advance His kingdom, for team members to be yielded to the leading of God’s Spirit, health and safety of team members, for grace and protection when things don’t go as planned, for the local church and our ministry partner.  We have a bookmark as a reminder of ways to pray.

How can I raise funds for a Mission Journey?

When you are added to the team, the software creates a personal trip link for you.  You can use that link in e-mails or on any social media platform and it takes the person directly to a secure online giving page for donations to you for the journey. There are many creative ways you can raise funds for your journey. Many people communicate by letter or digitally to those they think may want to support their journey and the Kingdom work being done.
